Princess Movie

Not to much news going on about Anders Morgenthaler's movie Princess. The presentation site hits you hard with a very nice intro scene. A guy is thrown trough a window, and a little girl appears in front of him. The next thing is a bloody crowbar and some agonizing screams. Promissing
The site doesn't offer to many stills or trailers, but it's pretty much the only place you can get some decent info on the movie. Stop by and have look, Princess just might not be an average animated movie.

Origine Movie

Studio Gonzo, responsible, among others, for Hellsing and Samurai7, is about to release on 28 June 2006 a new movie, called Origine. The previews so far look promising. 300 years in the future, the Earth is nothing but a desolated place. Humanity was reorganised but the spirits of the Forest want to take vangeance on the harm the humans caused in the past. Two ideologies confront themselfs: one of a city which wants to return to Earth former power and one of a city who seeks to live in harmony with nature. The plot is similar to animes created by StudioGibli, but this could be a very good thing. You can get some screencaps and infos on the movie homepage (in french).

MTV’s Code Hunters Short Animation

I could not find a better words to describe this short movie than EYE CANDY. The animation created by Axis Animation is visually stunning, featuring 10 minutes of 1% story, but 100% action. The director is Stateless Films' Ben Hibon for Blinkink. The fightscenes are amazing, featuring blazing guns, fights on trains and some really nice distruction. Enough praise. See it for yourself and be amazed. Here are the links:

Indigo Session – Anime OST Edition

This weeks reissue features an excellent mix of anime soundtracks from WakaX. Two thumbs up. The tracks were handpicked from some of the best anime songs out there. Among the goodies them Making Of A Cyborg from Ghost In The Shell and tracks of Yoko Kanno, the person responsible for the superb Cowboy Bebop OST. Grab it while it's hot! Free download at the link below, more infos at the TMBase Indigo homepage.

Ergo Proxy

This has to be the best animated series that I've seen in a long time. The animation is produced by the director of Witch Hunter Robin, and scripted by Dai Sato (who also worked on Ghost In The Shell : Stand Alone Complex). It's hard to go too far wrong with talent like that and the trailer looks amazing. So far the series is up to episode 11 out of 26. The graphics are first class, the story gets you from the first scene and doesn't let go. This animation is a "must see" even if you are not a big anime fan. Here a short intro into the complex and so beautifull plot of the series:
In a world where humans and androids, known as autoreivs, live in relative peace, there exists a domed city named "Romdeau". Under the implementation of complete management control, it is a paradise where feelings are literally discarded, and the governing council dictates the way of life the citizens should live. But this utopian landscape is soon broken by a series of mystifying murders. Real Mayar, a female inspector from the Citizen Information Bureau, along with her autoreiv partner Iggy, are tasked to solve the murder cases. She is soon attacked by a creature drawn to her which is neither human nor android, and learns about the mysterious phenomena called "Awakening", an event which draws her further into the case…and to the world beyond the limits of Romdeau.
The episodes can be found on torrent site like TokyoToshokan as high quality HDTV ripps.

Cowboy Bebop

I just stumbled upon an quite old (considering it was released in 1998) anime series: Cowboy Bebop. I heard many good things about this anime and must say they are all true. The anime is awesome, from story to grafics. The whole series has a unique look & feel with retro funky music mixed with spaceships & digital technology. Each of the 26 episodes of the series is packed with action, catchy phrases and humor. Of course, plot twists & surprises are not forgotten. You can get the digitally remastered DVD version of the episodes via torrents, and believe me it's worth every byte downloaded. To avoid spoilers, here's a short intro to the series:
The year 2071 A.D. Driven out of their terrestrial eden, humanity chose the stars as the final frontier. With the section-by-section collapse of the former nations a mixed jumble of races and peoples came. They spread to the stars, taking with them the now confused concepts of freedom, violence, illegality and love, where new rules and a new generation of outlaws came into being.
Meet Spike and Jet, a drifter and a retired cyborg cop who have started a bounty hunting operation. In the converted ship The Bebop, Spike and Jet search the galaxy for criminals with bounties on their heads. They meet a lot of unusual characters, including the unusually intelligent dog, Ein, and the voluptuous and vexing femme fatale, Faye Valentine.
